Ben Trickey is an undergraduate student, studying English at Kansas State University. He plans to continue studying English into graduate school in hopes of earning his doctorate and becoming a college professor. Outside of work, Ben is a member of the marching band and On the Spot Improv, KSU’s official improv comedy troupe. When he finds free time between work, classes, and extracurriculars, he is known to apologize to inanimate objects he accidentally bumps into. One of his biggest achievements in the lab was in developing the protocol for measuring the area of orange spray paint on sorghum leaves for the “Sorghum Selfie Stick” project. Some would call Ben’s work “instrumental in the progress of science,” while others would say, “Since when is measuring paint on a leaf a big deal?” These are both valid sentiments.
